Publication Ethics

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

1. Introduction

The Journal of Economics, Governance and Sustainable Development (JEGSD) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. This policy is guided by the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics and applies to all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

2. Duties of Authors

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original. Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be provided. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently. Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals is unethical.

Authorship of the Paper

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All contributors who do not meet the criteria should be appropriately acknowledged.

Data Access and Retention

Authors should be prepared to provide raw data related to their manuscript for editorial review and should retain such data for a reasonable period after publication.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that may influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works

When authors discover a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they must promptly notify the journal editor and cooperate to correct or retract the paper.

3. Duties of Editors

Publication Decisions

The editor is responsible for deciding which submitted articles should be published based on the manuscript’s quality, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

Fair Play

Editors evaluate manuscripts without regard to race, gender, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and the publisher.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Editors must not use unpublished information disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research without the author’s explicit written consent.

4. Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer reviewers assist the editor in making editorial decisions and help authors improve their manuscripts.

Promptness

Reviewers should promptly notify the editor if they are unable to review the manuscript within the stipulated timeframe.

Confidentiality

Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents.

Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.

Conflict of Interest

Reviewers should not review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.

5. Publication Misconduct

Plagiarism

All manuscripts are screened for plagiarism. Submissions with significant plagiarism will be rejected.

Data Fabrication and Falsification

Fabrication or falsification of data is strictly prohibited.

Citation Manipulation

Any attempt to manipulate citations to increase citation counts is considered unethical.

6. Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

  • Corrections will be issued for minor errors
  • Retractions will be issued for serious ethical violations or invalid results
  • Expressions of Concern may be issued when an investigation is ongoing

7. Ethical Oversight

The journal ensures that:

  • Research involving human participants or animals complies with applicable ethical standards
  • Necessary approvals (e.g., institutional review boards) are obtained
  • Informed consent is secured where applicable

8. Complaints and Appeals

Authors have the right to appeal editorial decisions. Complaints should be directed to:
